“I don’t feel passionate about anything, help?”
That has to be one of the most common questions I get.
And it holds you back from starting, because you have an unhelpful definition of what passion truly is.
Following your passion does not look the way you think it does.
It’s often very, very different.
This isn’t something most people tell you. They want to sell you the dream that everything is going to be rainbows and pixies if you can just find that one perfect passion.
Yeah. Probably not going to happen.
But that doesn’t mean you should give up. On the contrary, when you’re armed with the truth, you’ll be even more motivated to take action.
What If You’re Not Passionate About Anything?
So what if nothing seems to stand out?
In the video below I give you a few tips on what I’ve found to work.
(The article continues below the video, so after you’re done watching, keep reading).

How do you see what I covered in this video helping you move forward?

Hi Henry
How are you. Every time you make a blog post I think you are talking directly to me. I have been in Affiliate marketing for some time now. I stepped away for a while to take a breather and now I am back and ready. I was just wondering about what is it I am truly passionate about.
You are always so inspiring.
Have a great day
Ingrid
Thanks Ingrid. I’m doing fine 🙂
Hey what’s up Henri, loved your video man.
I hear this all the time “what if I don’t have any passions?” and I think the easy answer is then find something that interests you!
In my case I love listening to music and playing guitar but I would also LOVE to learn how to play piano (I know harmony and I know the piano keys but that’s as far as I go).
So from my point of view, I don’t see any problems teaching guitar right from the beginning because it is something I already know how to do.
But I also believe that I can have piano as another niche of mine, because I can write about my progress, create videos about it, show where I’m currently at, where I’m going and people love stories and watching someone’s progress.
I could be wrong but I think this is the exact reason why so many people love to watch reality shows.
Sergio
PS. Just for the record I don’t watch TV, I’m assuming “many people” love them because otherwise they wouldn’t be on air all the time right? 😉
I’d have to agree with you, Sergio.
And another key many often miss is that it doesn’t matter where you start, because just starting will open doors where none existed before.
Hi, Henri,
My problem is that I am interested in too many things at once and I cannot focus on one. I constantly read about something and am excited about it for a day, but then I lose interest. For example, sometimes I want to be a doctor, then I want to be an entrepreneur, after I hear someone making a lot of money trading I want to be a trader, then I take an acting class I want to be an actress 🙂 I am Stuck!!!! I feel like if I will start focusing on one I will miss out on the rest, but of course I end up not doing anything at all. So frustrating!!!How do I select one thing among many? Help!
It’s definitely not easy, but you may want to look at why you want to do different things. Is it just because you want fame, money, success, security, or something else? Or is it because your heart nudges you in that direction.
Keep on rocking!
Henri, you have certainly identified a few truths here. I realise I do have passions, even though I have so far lived in an environment where displaying them is not cool. The other big truth is just start and let it evolve. Well said, as usual.
Thanks Ian!
All it takes is knowing what thing you want to do or think you want to do and doing it. If it goes well then great. If not, you’re one step closer to something that will go great.
Just have fun.
Finding your passion seems easy but when you started your journey to find it, it’s the most difficult thing to find out. Second thing as Henri mentioned is that our own fear does not allow us to follow our passion. We need to come out and experiment with different things in order to find our passion. What ever i like i am trying to take differnt experience so that i can truly know if it’s just a bubble or i am truly passionate about it. Hoping to truly find what i love to do.
Hi Henri!
I have to say that you are so right about following your passion..I am living proof is a path that will lead you to happiness and that kind of peace that only comes with living a life you enjoy. When I was a kid, my parents wanted me to be this or that.. I went to college for pharmacy and medicine..hating it all the while, but doing so because I was told by my parents to. These days, as you know Henri, I spend my time writing..I earn my living doing what I love. It was scary and it took a while to get a foothold, but wow! has it ever been worth it! For everyone out there, it is true..everyone has something they can make into a life passion..and make their living at it as well. We all only have one life to live and making the most of it is well worth it! Keep your head and keep plugging.. don’t lose sight of your dreams and make them happen!
Right on, Cindy. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It’s much appreciated 🙂
Hi, very nice video Henri. I liked your voice and the way you talk 🙂 When it comes to the merits, I think you are right – everyone deep inside is passionate about something. You just need to follow your heart and not to think what other would say. Doing something without passion is not only bad for you, but also it is bad for us all. Why? Because you don’t give the world your true self.

Absolutely, Krystian. My middle name is Kristian, btw 😉
It’s so funny that this post landed in my inbox today. I just wrote something similar and I’ll take this as confirmation of a message I ought to remember. Today, I’m telling myself that it’s okay to NOT have all the answers. Plans are good but too much thinking takes me away from this moment, and it ultimately limits me by leaving me fixed on ideas that may not work as life unfolds.
Thanks for another awesome post, Henri!
Hi, Henry !
My problem through the years was a bit different. I’m excied about a lot of things – fine arts, music, acting, design, cinema, technologies, engeneering, electronics… the list is endless ! And my passion consists all of them ! And the next problem is – my excitement would stay not only for a day, but for years. Finally I realized that I don’t have the time to keep in touch with all my passions. That’s when I decided to just pick a thing or two that I’m mostly good at and start doing something. That’s how I focused eventually to the field of design and furniture drafting. And by the way I hate doing things that are not interesting to me – it’s just a waste of time…

Hi Henri,
I stumbled to your site a few months ago and have found every post that you send out via email to strongly resonate with what I am struggling with in my own life. I have had MANY hobbies and interest and jobs since I was a young child. So many in fact that my friends and family tease me about it. What I find most frustrating is that I have a problem “sticking” with anything for a long period of time. I have a blog and I made a plan on how I was going to write at least once a week but now I find myself rebelling against that idea because it feels forced. However, when I do force myself to sit down and write, I end up feeling great about it. I guess I’m wondering if you ever get to feeling this way about doing things that you ultimately enjoy?
Thanks!
Hey Abby!
I would look at the assumption that you need to stick with something. As you’ve noticed, if you force yourself to stick with something, it doesn’t work, so why try? Keep doing your best, and following your inner GPS. Who knows where it may lead.
As for making myself do something, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. It’s something you’ll have to experiment with, and find your own way. For example, is fear stopping you from writing? There truly is no simple answer. I wish there was. But the sooner you start testing things for yourself, the better it’ll be.
Hope this helps!
Hey henri ,
I just love how you directly speak to all your readers.
You are great!
Have a nice day
I know now how important it is to start with what excites one instead of going in circle and running after every shiny objects that promises the moon with no walk… I believe as one moves forward with one’s passion, life definitely changes to the right direction as long we don’t give up.
Thanks for sharing Henri.. You really do tell the truth
Hi Henry,
Thanks ! I liked your sharing. I would like to know,
What if my passion is extremely different from my actual circumstances. And following my passion means ‘putting a lot at stake’. How do I gather courage to do so ? Do you think I should wait and watch .
Thanks !
