Guest Post Roundup #2: Creativity, Fear and Perfection

I’ve been writing more guest posts. The traffic and subscribers have grown steadily.  I have gotten a lot of questions about how I am able to produce so much content.

The biggest problem most people run into is perfectionism. I have coached a few people in producing more content in less time, without sacrificing quality and it really isn’t that hard.

Most of it is in your head, but there are also other tools and exercises you can use, but I won’t go into that here, perhaps something for a future article?

There seems to be a lot of demand for it, since a lot of people are pressed for time and producing even a few extra articles per week can mean a lot.

If you read my posts, you know that I am a big fan of guest posting. I try to write at least as many guest posts as I write posts for my own blog. This is a strategy to get my blog off the ground faster.

With that said, here are 5 guest posts I’ve written that you might want to check out:

1. How to Destroy Writer’s Block and Unleash Your Creativity

I contacted Mary at Write to Done after I had written an article that turned into something completely different than what I had intended. I thought it was an excellent match for Write to Done, so I went out on a limb and decided to see what Mary had to say and after a few tweaks it was accepted and scheduled.

If you have trouble with writer’s block and are sick of staring at a blank screen, you might just want to check out this article, because it is one of my best.

2. 6 Deceptively Simple Ways to Conquer Fear

Anyone can submit articles to Dumb Little Man, so I decided to whip up a good article and send it over. It was accepted. By this point I started to realize that guest posting isn’t all that difficult if you make sure to write high-quality articles.

I’ve been shot down a few times, but mostly people are delighted to publish good articles. We all deal with fear and in this article I share some of the ways you can conquer it.

3. Interview on Already Inspired

It came as a pleasant surprise when Muzi from Already Inspired contacted me for an interview. It is the first interview I’ve given, so congratulations, Muzi, for being the first ;) .

We go into the story behind the Wake Up Cloud, my “jobs”, guest posting and what I have in store for you guys for the coming year.

4. Forget Resolutions, Live for Today

Lisis over at the Quest for Balance is awesome. I really like her blog and resonate with her posts. After I had spent a few weeks (or was it days? I can’t even remember anymore) commenting and reading her posts, I decided to muster up the courage and ask for a guest post.

She accepted and that was that. In the article I take a deep look at my past and future and delve into some of my deeper thoughts on life.

5. Perfection is Boring and Dangerous

One night on twitter I asked if anyone wanted me to write a guest post for them. Carrie was one of three that said yes.

The article looks at how perfection isn’t really all it is made out to be. Striving for perfection is not what you want.

Henri,

That’s great! This is something that I need to do, so hopefully I’ll be following your example and reaching out to people.

Hopefully all that effort will pay off with more traffic :)

Henri,

It’s good to see you getting out there so rapidly and knocking down so many guest posts. I have no doubts that you are going to be very successful as a blogger.

Awesome stuff Henri.

You’re doing a great job getting yourself out there and your smart works shows it. Taking action is something most people really have a problem with (besides change, or is taking action change? eh) and you’re making it happen.

Keep up the great work and keep being you!

Henri, I never cease to be amazing at how bloody fast you can churn out top quality blog posts.

I’m actually publishing a post on Wednesday in which I attempt to write with your speed and skill! I hope you’ll check it out and let me know what you think.

In the meantime, I’m going to go and check out these guest posts that probably took you a combined total of about 20 minutes to write!

Ian

Haha. It’s all about practice. I got a lot of it while doing article marketing. Keep pushing yourself just a little bit more every day and you’ll be lightning fast in no time at all.

Henri… You’re killing it with the guest posts. Great job. I’ve taken your advice and have written a couple myself. One is hopefully going to be published at davidrisley.com and I have another I’m looking trying to find a home for. Darren Rowse said he’d take a look but his list is long.

Today I sat down with the intentions of writing a guest post and upon finishing it realized it was a post for my blog. Not sure it would work for anybody else.

The other conundrum I find myself in, is I started my second blog this week I’m really excited about. That makes two blogs and at least 8 posts per week to write. I’m a bit concerned about being able to come up with enough posts to accommodate the amount of guest posts I’d like to do.

Hmmm… Something I’ll have to figure out. Thanks for being an inspiration on this.

I personally try not to spread myself thin. I have thought about starting another blog many times, but it simply would not work for me. I get much more done by only focusing on one blog. Hopefully you figure out the right way!

Yeah, Henri, it seems like you are definitely on the right track with guest postings.

However, I have a suggestion: how about you share with your readers what a “typical day in the life of Henri” looks like…we want to know how a lean, mean, hungry machine like you can churn out so many posts and guest posts.

I can’t speak for others, but I struggle to wake up in the morning. I am bleary-eyed and have to request someone to please tell me what name I go by. After a long day, I can’t even remember my street address and frequently end up in a seedier part of town through sheer naivette. There, strangers approach me for hand-outs and say offensive things like “muchas gracias, Senor”–hey, I don’t speak French!

Therefore, it would be nice to finally be able to learn something from you, so people like me can not only improve our lives but get a life. Write something for us, Henri.

Hah. Who says I’m not totally delirious all the time, but somehow manage to write articles? Good suggestion though. I’ll figure out how to structure the article and get to work.
