Building a lifestyle business is like going to the gym.

You can’t read about working out and expect to become fit.

You have to learn what works, and what doesn’t, and then you have to actually do something.

In the beginning, it’s a struggle, because your body isn’t used to pushing itself.

But soon enough adaptation occurs and you have to up the pressure to make further progress.

The same is true in business.

It’s not about being smart, talented, or connected, although those things certainly help.

It’s about putting in the time to learn the right things, and then taking action.

You start out knowing nothing, but with each step, you get better, smarter, and faster, until finally you’ve built a lifestyle business.

But most people never make it and will never make it. Do you ever wonder why?

Why Do Most People Fail?

When I started out in 2006, I looked for the easy road to success.

I spent thousands on courses, programs, and coaching that got me nowhere.

When I was finally ready to work hard, I didn’t have the right information, so I kept spinning my wheels.

Eventually everything fell into place and I started seeing results, but it all came from my determination to succeed.

And that is what most people lack. They look for the quick and easy way out, and it’s not happening.

Building a lifestyle business comes down to blood, sweat and tears.

If you haven’t yet succeeded, then you keep going until you do.

But if you want to avoid wasting your time, you have to have the essential factors in place.

The 5 Essential Factors for Building a Successful Lifestyle Business

There are many factors that come into play when you want to build a profitable lifestyle business, but as I look back, I see five that stand out.

Building an online business around your passion is simple, but certainly not easy.

The people most likely to succeed are those that are determined to work hard and face their fears.

When that mindset shift happens in people, things take off like a NASA rocket launch.

The good news is that anyone can incorporate the five factors into their life.

So, let’s start with the first factor, which is right information.

Factor #1. Right Information

When you start out, you probably won’t have the right information, because it’s tough to distinguish the good from the bad.

If you go to the gym, and you don’t know what to do, you won’t see the same results as someone who knows exactly what to do, when, and how.

So, how do you get the right information?

You find someone who’s already done what you want to do. It could be a mentor, a coach, or even a training program.

After you’ve got the right information in place, it’s time to focus.

Factor #2. Focus

Focus means doing one thing at a time.

If you try to learn everything, you’re just going to overwhelm yourself.

It wasn’t until I decided to focus on ONE thing that I started seeing massive results.

Think light bulb versus a laser. That’s the kind of focus you’re after.

There’s no room to have ten different projects running. Pick one and do that until you succeed.

But focus is only the beginning. Nothing happens without doing something on a daily basis, which is why you have to have a daily practice.

Factor #3. Daily Practice

You don’t have to quit your day job to build your business.

You can learn how to build a lifestyle business in 2 hours a day or less.

The key lies in taking daily action. Even spending 30 minutes a day learning and implementing the right things can make a big difference.

Don’t put off starting your lifestyle business just because you can’t spend all day doing it.

Do something. Every. Single. Day.

But all of this is irrelevant if you don’t know if you’re on the right track.

Factor #4. Feedback

If you want to make rapid progress, you need feedback.

You need someone who can point out your mistakes, so you can course-correct.

Most people dabble on their own and wonder why they aren’t seeing results.

The reason is almost always the same: because they’ve been doing the wrong things, in the wrong way, and at the wrong time.

I had a coach when I played poker to make sure my game was constantly top-notch.

I had a coach when I built my first successful website.

And I have a coach today to keep me on track.

It’s the best investment you can make.

But even a coach cannot help you with the last factor, which underlies everything else.

Factor #5. Attitude

As Zig Ziglar puts it, “Your attitude determines your altitude.”

Your attitude is the fuel behind all the other requirements above.

When I started, I had a weak attitude. I wanted fast success, but after a few years of banging my head against a nice, shiny wall, my attitude shifted.

I’m not sure if it was from all the banging, but I’m glad it happened sooner rather than later

I had spent enough time in the kiddie pool.

It was time to get serious.

I am where I am today because of that attitude shift.

I have a successful online business that allows me the freedom to hang out with my newborn son and do whatever I want, which at this time is to learn Dutch, because my girlfriend is half Dutch.

You don’t have to be perfect to build a successful lifestyle business. You just have to have all the above factors in place, and you have to START.

Summary

Building a successful lifestyle business is like going to the gym.

You have to know what to do, when to do it, and how. Then you have to apply what you’ve learned over a period of time to see results.

And if you want to speed up your progress, having a coach never hurts.

I had no idea what I was doing when I started. I fell for the get-rich quick schemes, but I refused to give up, so here I am.

Remember the five essential factors to build a successful lifestyle business:

Right Information
Focus
Daily Practice
Feedback
Attitude

And above all, remember to take action. Every. Single. Day.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t succeeded yet, because if you keep going, you will.

Stuck? 25 Questions That Will Help You Find and Follow Your Passion

Finding and following your passion takes hard work, and it isn’t for the faint-hearted.

You need courage to go for it, despite all the fear, overwhelm, and uncertainty.

While this path may not be the easiest, or the most comfortable, I do it because it is the only path that I can see myself taking. It makes me happy, fulfilled, and satisfied.

In this article, I’ve compiled some of the questions I ask coaching clients, friends, and anyone who needs help finding and following their passion.

It’s like a mini-coaching session. You can use these questions for anything, so they aren’t just for finding and following your passion.

Before you read on, grab a pen and a blank sheet of paper and write down the answers to each question, because it will help you eliminate some of the overwhelm, uncertainty, and fear.

And always remember, you don’t have to find your passion in order to start taking action. Many people make it into another excuse.

Your passion will find you when it does. In the meanwhile, take action. Refuse to wait.

1. What do you REALLY want?

A basic question, but extremely relevant.

I’m not talking about the shoulds or shouldn’ts. Forget about what society, your parents, or your friends say.

What is it that makes you come alive? What truly lights the fire within your soul?

2. What would you want if you didn’t have to be unhappy about not getting it?

I first heard this question from Michael Neill, a world-class coach. At first, it boggled my mind, but as I let it sink in, I realized the power of this simple question.

Take your time with this one, and write down your answer. It boils down to what would make you happy right now, even if you didn’t have to reach some future goal.

3. What’s stopping you?

What is preventing you from finding or following your passion, or going after your dreams?

What have you perceived to be standing in your way up until now?

This is a crucial question, because it sets the tone for the rest of the questions. If you don’t know what is stopping you, then how do you know that there is actually something there?

Even if you know what it is, it’s often not there anyway

4. What specifically is it about that that stops you?

Take your answer from #3, and drill down. If you’re afraid, ask yourself what specifically you’re afraid of.

I was afraid when I started Wake Up Cloud in late 2009 (my first post). More specifically, I was afraid of people not liking what I put out there, and not getting validation for my work.

5. How is that stopping you now?

Take your answer from #3. Let’s stick with fear, in this case you’d ask yourself how that is stopping you from moving forward.

In my case, fear made me confused, overwhelmed, and uncertain. It paralyzed me and I painted disaster scenarios in my head that stopped me from taking action.

6. How could you solve those problems?

When you drill down into what’s stopping you, it goes from a thing to a process. Fear might become the pictures in your head, or sensations in your body.

You can brainstorm solutions to your problems, change the way you represent your fear, or eliminate the sensations. These latter things are what I do with my coaching clients.

7. How does X mean that you can’t do Y?

Let’s, again, stick with fear. How does fear mean that you can’t find or follow your passion?

If it’s just you scaring the shit out of yourself, why can’t you move forward anyway? If you’re afraid of what people will think, shouldn’t you be more afraid of what you think, since it’s you scaring yourself?

All of these things are going on inside of you, not outside, and you can still move forward despite being scared.

8. If all your problems were solved, what would you do?

If all of my problems were solved right now, I’d be more bold, take more action, and take things to the next level.

Funnily enough, this is exactly what I’m doing, so keep your eyes peeled.

But sticking with the question, if you had no problems, worries, or fears, what would YOU do?

9. What are your interests?

What do you enjoy doing? When I got started, it was obvious to me. I loved personal development and online business.

These two topics were my life, and still are. I read, listen, and soak up everything I can, but before I got started, I didn’t believe in myself.

I finally realized that I didn’t have to believe in myself to get started, and I took action, which is why you’re reading these very words.

10. What were your interests?

Some people have suppressed their interests, because they’ve been told it’s impossible to do what you love, or they’ve told themselves that.

If you’re one of those people, look into the past. What did you used to enjoy doing? What brought passion, purpose, and fulfillment into your life?

11. How do you know that you don’t know?

Many of my clients tell me that they don’t know what they want, and I ask them, “How do you know that?”

This has them confused, because it’s something they haven’t considered. It opens up doorways in their mind.

A common answer might be: “I feel it.”

To that I might respond, “So you feel it, and have your feelings ever been wrong?”

That’s just the start. I encourage you to play with this, because what you believe to be true isn’t true, it’s just what you believe.

12. How do you stop yourself?

If you don’t know what your passion is, ask yourself how you stop yourself from finding your passion, or how you stop yourself from taking action anyway.

What do you do to make it not happen? And what would you have to do to discover your passion?

This works with following your passion as well. How are you stopping yourself from making progress, and how can you flip that around?

13. If you had to teach me how to do your problem, how would I do it?

This is a fun one. If you had to teach me how to not find my passion, or follow my passion, or whatever is stopping you, how would you do it?

Write down the process. When you bring the whole process to awareness, you’ll see that there are steps to it, and it makes it seem ridiculous.

It also helps you stop it in its tracks the next time it rears its ugly head.

14. Always?

Most people tell me that they’ve never known what their passion was, but when they tell me that, I know that they are always lying, because we’ve all had glimpses of what it’s like to truly enjoy life.

Your passion doesn’t have to be one thing, it could just mean being in the flow and enjoying the present moment.

Keep it simple!

15. How will you know?

How will you know that you’ve found your passion and that you’re on your way to realizing your dreams?

What internal or external signs will tell you this? This is a great question to give you clarity on how you’ll know when you’ve reached your end goal, or even that you’re on the right track.

16. If there was a miracle tonight… how would you know?

This is an extension of question #15. What would have to change in your life for you to experience a miracle?

If you’re having trouble finding your passion, what would have to change in order for you to discover your passion?

17. What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?

If Superman gave you a magic potion that gave you immunity from failure, what would you do?

Would you write a book, start a blog, begin public speaking, or go out and hug people?

18. What will you do when you’ve found your passion?

This is a great way to go deeper. What will you do when you’ve found your passion? Or what will you do when you’ve realized your dream life.

Is there something you’re putting off? Many people disguise goals, or finding their passion, as something they need before they can do what they truly want.

In essence, they’re lying to themselves. Are you doing the same?

19. If you pretended to know?

If you pretended that you knew what your passion was, what would it be?

If you pretended to have clarity, what would your next step be?

This is a great question that suspends disbelief and allows you to daydream about the possibilities.

20. What would happen if you didn’t?

What would happen if you didn’t have to find your passion in order to enjoy your life?

This isn’t about having something. You already have everything you need to be happy, joyful, and satisfied.

What would happen if you gave up the search for passion and just went out and had fun?

21. What makes you come alive?

What’s something that makes you come alive?

For me, it’s helping people overcome their perceived limitations, so they can find and follow their passion, and get paid to do what they love.

This is a good question to freewrite on. Put the question at the top of a blank page, and dump everything on your mind on paper for 20-30 minutes, and see what comes out.

22. What’s important to you about living your passion?

This is a question that drills down into what you truly want. I want you to ask this question over and over again until you reach a state that is beyond words.

A client of mine that I did this with had the following kind of progression when I asked this question: Helping People >> Passive Income >> Realizing a Dream >> Being Recognized >> Feeling Complete and Feeling Happy.

In the end, what he really wanted was to feel complete and happy. He discovered that he was already feeling complete and happy, so he already had what he wanted. This is the perfect place to take action from.

23. What will happen if you don’t take action?

What will your life look like if you don’t find or follow your passion 5, 10, 20 years from now?

Will you be happy? Will you regret that you didn’t take action, or will you be okay?

Most people will regret it. I know I would, which is why I take action now, despite my fears.

24. What will happen if you take action today?

What would your life look like if you took action today? What would it look like in 5, 10, 20 years from now?

Would you be fulfilled, satisfied, and happy?

Also, remember that this isn’t about being happy in the future and neglecting the present moment. This is about working towards something you love, while enjoying the here and now.

25. What steps can you take?

The last question is what steps can you take right now?

If you’re not sure what your passion is, what steps can you take right now to get closer to discovering what it is?

If you already know what your passion is, what steps can you take to move forward?

To live a passionate life, you have to take action.

Conclusion

Let’s wrap things up. This is a heavy article, because if you’ve gone through and written down the answers, you’ll have discovered things about yourself that you didn’t know about.

If, on the other hand, you read through the article, and didn’t write anything down, I suggest you go back, and do so.

If you still won’t do it, then you’re making the choice to stay where you are, and as long as you’re okay with that, that’s cool with me.

However, since shutting down my mentoring, I’ve had readers email me and explicitly ask me if I do 1-on-1 consultations, and if I did, could they borrow my brain for a bit.

So I finally decided that it was time.

Why I Do Mentoring

I’ve been lucky in the fact that the clients I’ve worked with have all been on the same wavelength as me.

They are hard working people that want to make money while doing good in the world, and I love helping people like that.

How to Automatically Backup All of Your Computer Files for Free

Did you know that the average lifetime of your hard drive (where your files are) is between 3 to 5 years? And that is if you’re lucky.

If you’re like my girlfriend that means losing years worth of pictures of your best pictures.

Pictures of your loved ones, your dog when she was just a puppy, your trips, and your most memorable moments.

For me, on the other hand, it means losing huge amounts of data from my websites, notes, saved secrets, and other projects that I find really valuable. I’m not into taking pictures as you may have noticed

So how do you eliminate the risk of losing everything you have?

With the internet – and the cloud – there are now solutions that can instantly backup your computer files.

You can choose which folders should be backed up and the software you are using will instantly do so. Whenever you update, delete, or add new files, photos, or other content, it will automatically take care of it for you.

It’s as easy as pointing and clicking, but with the secure feeling of knowing that if your computer was to crash right now, you’d have everything backed up which needed to be backed up.

For the last year I’ve been using a software called DropBox, which has been fantastic. They give you 2GB of storage if you sign-up for a free account, then you can buy more if you need to. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

But then I found something even better called SugarSync. They give you 5GB of storage, plus 500MB extra for a total of 5.5GB if you sign-up for a free account.

I’ve been trying SugarSync for a week or two now and I have to say it’s a breeze to use. Tell it what folders you want to back up and it will take over automatically from there.

Something else that I use it for a lot is syncing between different computers, which means that I can have a folder with say my newest articles on two computers.

If I’m not on my home computer, I can still work on my article from anywhere in the world, as long as I have an internet connection, and when I’m done, I can save my work, and it will automatically update it.

I know losing all of your computer files sucks. I’ve been there and done that, but I never found an easy way to backup my files, so I never did it religiously.

I used to have an external hard drive, but it crashed before my computer did. I also used to use an USB flash drive, but I got sick of manually copying my most important files to it on a regular basis.

Luckily, I no longer have to worry about backing up my computer files.

I’m writing this post to let you know about this, because a lot of people neglect backing up their files, much like I did, but you don’t have to because you can get everything safe and secure, for free.

It’s been one hell of a year. This blog has grown to thousands of subscribers. My online income has grown with me doing very little, which is a pleasant surprise.

“This is never going to work”, I told the dog in the most frustrating and bitter tone of voice I could muster up.

“Creating a profitable website isn’t possible, because I’ve tried everything, and none of it works!”

The dog looked at me puzzled, with her head slightly tilted to the left, obviously understanding nothing of what was going on, and hoping that I would throw a delicious snack her way.

Just because we can’t make something work, does that mean that it is impossible, or is it a cry of frustration because we feel like there are no other paths to embark upon?

If your website isn’t profitable, chances are that you’re tripping up somewhere in the creation process. As obvious as that sounds, most people don’t take measures to fix the leaks.

There’s a lot to go through, but let’s start with the fundamentals, shall we?

Does Your Passion of Choice Stand a Chance?

You may have one passion in mind for creating a website, but more often than not, you will have to modify how you are going to approach the topic of your dreams.

I’m lucky in the sense that my passions have to do with some of the most profitable markets on the planet, such as health, personal development, and wealth, but even so, I do some research before I start writing.

The good news is that we all have many interests. In fact, I’ve received dozens of emails telling me that the biggest problem someone has is the multitude of interests–they simply cannot choose!

Staying open-minded, and keeping your eyes open for opportunities is key in creating a profitable website. You may not always get what you want, but you can get damn close to it.

The 3 Keys of Creating Websites That Work (And Make Money)

When I create a website, I spend a lot of time on initial research, which can be a frustrating time for any beginner, because you’d rather just get started, but it’s a step you don’t want to skip.

If you don’t do at least some preliminary research, you may end up wasting months, even years only to realize that it’s never going to work, and that’s not something we want to do, is it?

Here are three simple, and extremely practical tips that you can use if you’re starting out:

1. Brainstorming. First, I start out by looking at my interests. Like we talked about above, you may not be able to create a profitable website on your most beloved topic, but if you want to create a passive income stream, you have to be flexible. So get your brain warmed up and start thinking about topics you know, or want to learn a lot about.

2. Keyword Research. I use keywords as a way to gauge the demand and supply of a market. If you have a hard time finding keywords, it doesn’t necessarily have to mean that the topic is dead, but it is a big, red warning sign. Keyword research also helps me find possible holes in the market that I may want to focus on. Any keyword research tool will get you results, and you will find many of them (such as the Google Tool), but the best are usually paid.

3. Profitability. Do people sell ebooks, courses, or physical products in your area of interest? While putting all of your hopes and dreams on being an affiliate for Amazon works for some, I like to diversify. Could you create your own products? Are there any affiliate products you could recommend? What about holding your own workshops or webinars? These things have to be thought of beforehand.

But, What About the People That Ignored All of This?

There will always be those that have talent, get lucky, or get incredibly creative, but does that mean that it is the fastest and most efficient way for you?

When I started this blog, I ignored a lot of the knowledge I had, but I made it work, although I know now that I could’ve made a lot more progress had I done more groundwork.

But I wasn’t worried about making money, so it was more of an experiment for me, and I’ve learned a lot during this time. Even your failures will be of use in the future. There are no mistakes, only stepping stones to success.

So remember, even if you are frustrated, and feel like you’ve tried it all, there are still simple, practical, and ethical ways to build a profitable website around your interests.

If you want to live a fulfilling and passionate life, you have to face your fears and take action.

You have to eliminate your excuses and keep going. You can succumb to whatever you think is stopping you, but in the end you are responsible for the life you live.

I know there’s a lot of stuff that comes up when you begin moving in a new direction, but it’s all part of the game.

Most people aren’t cut out to create a passion business. You are different though, because the mere fact that you’re reading this means that there’s something inside of you craving change.

Problems, Obstacles and Excuses

I know you have fears that are holding you back. We all have them, but if you really want to do this, you have to keep going.

This is not easy, but it is what you want, right? The stars are never going to align, so you might as well get started.

You are good enough to do this, even if you’re confused right now. So many people have come to me saying that they don’t know how to choose, because they have so many passions.

If you have many passions, just pick one, because it doesn’t really matter. What matters is getting started, taking action and learning from real-life feedback.

I know you want it to be perfect, but this isn’t a decision that will define your life. This is just the first step on your journey.

Burning Your Bridges

When I started on this path, I burned all my backup plans. I knew that this was what I wanted. It felt right in my heart.

I was determined to succeed, which is why excuses and obstacles were dismissed as soon as they entered my mind.

I was still afraid, but I had no other options. If I didn’t go through with this, my life would be as it was before, and that wasn’t good enough for me.

Learning how to make your fears insignificant is part of the art of living a passionate life. It is up to you to learn how your mind works, but it doesn’t happen if you stand still.

4 Simple Ways to Enhance Your Intuition

How do you know when you’re truly listening to your intuition? Have you noticed that sometimes your intuition is wrong? It’s not really wrong, it’s just we humans mistaking something else for our intuition.

I don’t count on my intuition to make my decisions for me, but if it decides to help me along, I don’t mind at all.

Primarily I see intuition as a suggestion tool. It hints and nudges you to look at new things by affecting your feelings and thoughts.

The clearer your mind is, the better you are able to receive intuitive guidance, inspiration and all those fancy things associated with spirituality.

I don’t really see them as something esoteric. They are just tools that help me live my life.

A lot of people are apprehensive just by the mere fact that it has something to do with spirituality.

The cool thing is that you don’t have to see it that way. I use these things because they produce results and they feel good. With that said, here are the four simple tips I promised you:

4 Tips on How to Enhance Your Intuition

1. Patience. I tend to rush things. I want everything to happen instantly, so being patient is something that I’ve had a lot of trouble with. If I can learn to be at least somewhat patient, I know you can. When we rush things, we tend to overlook a lot of factors, which naturally leads to our intuition being blocked out.

2. Listen. Intuitive guidance can come in many different forms. It can come to you as a T.V commercial or as a bird flying past that provokes a specific thought within you that feels significant. The possibilities are endless. As your mind starts to become more open and receptive, you will see more and more intuitive signals, but beware, because it is easy to create them yourself and mistake them for the real thing.

3. Find Your Signal. To add extra credibility to your intuitive messages, find you personal confirmation signal(s). I have two very basic signals that I have come to rely on. One is chills running down my spine and the other is simply feeling incredibly good and uplifted. For example, if I am looking for an apartment, I might be looking at pictures and suddenly get a chill down my spine accompanied by a river of good feelings. That tells me that I might want to look closer at that specific apartment.

4. Meditation. As you’ve probably noticed, our thoughts and feelings can easily distort the messages we get. This is where meditation comes in. Starting your day with 10-15 minutes of meditation clears your mind and sets the tone for the whole day. If you don’t know how to start, check out my article on how to meditate.

Observe and Write Down

We’re all unique, so it’s only natural that our intuition will be unique as well. You will receive different confirmation signals than I do and you may get your intuitive e-mail in another form. You never know until you start being present and listening to your body and being aware of your surroundings.

The biggest frustration I had in the beginning was thinking that something was my intuition talking to me when it wasn’t. This is natural and bound to happen. It happens to me all the time. What can you do? Shrug it off and smile .

How to Use the Law of Attraction

This is Part 4 of the Law of Attraction for Conscious People Series.

If you haven’t read the previous parts, I suggest you do that right now.This part wraps everything up in a nice package. It’s all about taking action and making cool stuff happen in your life.

I’ve realized that getting what you want isn’t that hard, it’s just scary. We like comfortable. We don’t like risky. Just because everyone else is settling with comfortable doesn’t mean you have to.

Go after your dreams, follow your passion and do what you want, even if it is risky. That’s right. I said it. Go do what you really want to do.

You don’t have to quit your job, but if you really want to, go right ahead and see what happens. I’ve never been broke or homeless, but I can imagine that it isn’t as bad as our minds make it out to be.

With all that said, here are five simple steps on how you can start applying the Law of Attraction in your life. Start taking action now. After you’ve read this post, take one step towards making your dreams come true.

1. Clarity

Clarity is the first thing you want to pursue. If you don’t know what you want, you won’t commit to it and your thoughts will be too weak to make anything happen. If you want to wield true power, you might want to learn how to find your passion.

It’s okay to want a nice car or even a big house, if you do it for the right reasons. If your reason to have a car is to impress others, it won’t be very powerful and you will most likely fall flat on your face.

On the other hand, if you want a car because you truly enjoy the experience for YOU, that is a completely different experience. In the end, you decide what you want and don’t want. I can’t speak for you, so I encourage you to experiment and fail a lot, because that’s how you discover your true purpose in life.

2. Visualization

Once you know what you want in a big picture kind of way, it’s time to get down to the details. Look at it like day dreaming. Imagine the end result. If you want a car, imagine how it feels when you drive it, how it smells and all that good stuff.

You might even want to go test drive the car you want. The more emotion, details and clarity you punch into your visualization, the more power your thoughts will have. Passionate people keep going no matter what. They are committed. In their mind there is no way out.

If you maybe want something, you’re not going to follow through and do what it takes. You’re not going to take action. You’re not going to follow your intuition. Stop giving into what you think you should have and start listening to yourself.

3. Letting Go

Didn’t I just tell you to get your emotions going? Well yes I did, but those were the good emotions. When you visualize and set goals, there’s always going to be a voice in your head that goes “yeah right, you’ll never be able to do that, just forget it.”

You want to let go of any attachments, negativity and other blocks. You can do this with EFT, Sedona Method, meditation or just doing it anyway. I covered this in detail in Part 3 of this series. These tools work, but they also require you to put some effort into them.

If you’re going into this expecting everything to just happen, forget it. I’m not saying it can’t happen effortlessly, I’m saying it is better to go in prepared to die. Your resolve and commitment will be much more powerful. It’s like wielding a lightsaber compared to a kitchen knife, you will easily be able to cut through any obstacles that land in your path.

4. Taking Action

The reason I said you should be prepared to die is because you will have to take action and it will sooner or later be scary. When you have a purpose that is larger than you, your fears tend to just melt away.

I’ve been constantly running into my fears and my own monsters while running the Wake Up Cloud. I’m going to start doing more video soon, which is pretty scary, because I have a lot of things I’m unsure about, but I know it is the next step and it will happen, so I just accept it.

The fear is still there, but it’s okay. Fear will always be somewhere in your life, the question is how you deal with it. Do you try to push it away? Do you accept it and make it your ally? It’s up to you, so choose wisely.

The Law of Attraction does not work without you taking action and committing. So when you know what you want, start taking action even if you don’t know what the hell you’re doing. If you’re sitting at home whining about not being able to do something, get over it and just START!

5. Listening

Congratulations. Most people never reach step 5, because they stop at taking action. Actually doing stuff scares the living bejesus out of most people, including me, so it’s natural that the majority of people jump off the train at that point.

Once you’ve begun taking action, you will start getting feedback, mainly through your feelings. Some things will feel better than others. Listen to your feelings and do what feels good, even if it doesn’t make sense.

Summary

The Law of Attraction is just a label for a set of actions for me. It produces results, which is why I decide to use it. If the esoteric stuff doesn’t resonate with you, take whatever you need and use that in your life.

I am not here to tell you what to do. I am here to share my experiences and nudge you into expanding your mind to new possibilities. Being closed off does nobody good. The only way we’ll evolve is by listening to each other.

The Cheater’s Guide to the Law of Attraction

This is Part 3 of the Law of Attraction for Conscious People Series.

Throughout my short life I’ve noticed that a few simple tools have helped me in manifesting what I want faster.

It doesn’t guarantee anything, but it has definitely increased my success rate.

There’s a reason for everything that goes on in your life. If you’re facing hardship, you’ve attracted it into your life.

Every thought you put out attracts something. What kind of thoughts are you broadcasting? Positive? Negative?

It can be hard to deal with. It’s easier to just blame it all on external circumstances.

It is only when you take the power back that things start to happen. For the longest time I felt like a victim and blamed everything and everyone around me.

I never knew why and it took me years of feeling bad to realize that it was a creation of my own mind.

The circumstances will be different in your own life, so you will have to step up and start experimenting. With that said, let’s jump right in. Here are a few tools, methods and strategies that have a proven track-record in my life.

Emotional Freedom Techniques

If you’ve read some of my posts, you know that I talk about Emotional Freedom Techniques here and there. It is a practical way to release negative emotions. This is why it works so well with the law of attraction.

If you’re attached to a specific outcome, you will often block yourself from manifesting it, or at least delay it. The more you can let go of any emotions and thoughts of lack, the faster it will manifest.

If you’re trying to manifest your dream job, but you’re constantly thinking about how your old job sucks or how bad everything is, this is where you can use EFT to release the negativity. You can also use it to release any doubts about manifesting the job you really want.

In essence, the better you feel, the faster you’ll get what you want.

The Sedona Method

The Sedona Method is similar to EFT in the sense that it helps you release negativity. It’s much simpler than EFT, because you only have to ask yourself a few simple questions to start letting go.

The only downside is that it comes with a price tag, while EFT is free. I use both EFT and the Sedona Method. Releasing negativity and handling your emotions is one thing, but you also have to take massive action and accept that most of the time you don’t know the exact path that you are going to take.

This is what happened to me when I launched this blog. Deep down I knew I wanted to do this, but I had a lot of fear and anxiety about getting started. I used these tools to release a large part of the negativity and then focused ruthlessly on what my next step was.

Sure, I had a big picture plan of what I wanted to accomplish, but the details weren’t there. I took it one step at a time and gradually the fog subsided.

Meditation

Meditation is a tool that you can use to give your thoughts more focus and power. It is much easier to visualize what you want and inject substance (feelings) when you are relaxed and free from distractions.

If you’re visualizing without feeling energized and blissed out, you’re not injecting enough feeling to really make a difference. Let’s say you want a fulfilling job. Begin by visualizing the details of how it looks, but also putting in how it feels.

How will you feel when you’re completely fulfilled? The feeling should be powerful, positive and uplifting. Without emotional charge nothing happens. Remember, you are in control of your brain, not the other way around.

You have the power to manipulate your visualizations and the emotions you put into them. This is why passion is so important and why passionate people are more successful. If you love what you do, the law of attraction will almost work on autopilot.

As I’ve started to follow my passion and help more people, it is almost like the universe conspires to help me in any way possible. When that starts happening, you know you’re on the right track.

Massive Action

As I said above, once you’ve released negativity, meditated and focused on what you want, you have to start taking massive action. If you’re sitting there waiting for something to happen, you’re going to be waiting for a long, long time.

You do not have to know what you’re doing to take action. Often just doing anything is better than doing nothing at all. By failing you will at least know what didn’t work and it will help you in the right direction.

In the beginning you will fumble around, but when you keep going, things will start to clear up and cool stuff will begin to happen. It’s normal to not know what you’re doing. The most successful people aren’t afraid of failure.

I’ve noticed this in my own life. When I take massive action – even if I don’t know what I am doing all of the time – good things happen. If you want to use the Law of Attraction, these tools are extremely effective, but you have to actually USE them.

Why Some People Almost Always Get What They Want

This is Part 2 of the Law of Attraction for Conscious People Series.

The time was 12:10 on a bright, clear and sunny Saturday in Málaga, Spain.

I had just been to a Chinese acupuncturist. As I sat there on the train on my way home, I couldn’t help but look up at all the people around me.

Some of them were looking out the window. Some of them seemed to be deep in their thoughts. Some were smiling for no apparent reason.

What is it that determines if we get what we want? Is it god? Is it karma? Or is it just some unseen force that we have no control over?

We all have our own, unique challenges. There’s a reason you have the challenges you have. They are there to nudge you to grow. The sooner you can accept that, the faster you’ll get through it.

Getting what you want has multiple layers and includes several variables. It isn’t just about what you think, but that is a big part of it. There are common denominators among those that almost always get what they want.

It isn’t magic. It’s about connecting with who you are, getting clear on what you want and taking action. With that said, here are some characteristics I’ve identified in people that use the Law of Attraction effortlessly.

1. Honesty

In the past, I wanted to test the Law of Attraction, so I started visualizing a blue BMW and it didn’t work. But I realized that I wasn’t being completely honest with myself. Deep down, I didn’t want a BMW, nor did I need one. When you discover your passion and purpose, you can come from a much more powerful place and know what you really need.

For example, I have discovered that I am passionate about helping and connecting with like-minded souls. Every day I manifest new people and resources that seem to come out of nowhere and want to help me. This is the Law of Attraction at work when you’re aligned with who you are and when you aren’t just following automatic programs configured by your culture, society, friends and family.

2. Gratitude

If you aren’t happy with what you’ve got, you probably aren’t going to be happy with anything else. Gratitude isn’t just something that magically happens, you have to practice, consciously. Meditate, think about what you’re grateful for and be present in the now.

I like to feel my whole body and breath. In fact, I am doing it right now . You know you’re doing it right when you feel energized, happy and loved. Your feelings may differ, but this is what I feel right now. Be grateful for what you have and you shall receive even more.

3. Intention

I’ve noticed that the Law of Attraction works better when your intentions will benefit the whole of the human race. When I played poker, It felt like a constant uphill struggle. I was making money, but I was only benefiting myself. As I moved to other venues of giving and helping, it felt like I’d stopped trying to paddle upstream. Instead I had turned my stuff around and was going with the flow.

My intention now is to help as many people as possible and connect deeply with the right people. This is an intention that is meant to benefit everyone. It is an intention that people can rally around. It’s not about me doing this alone, because without you, nothing would happen. You are integral to my mission, so why not join in? Start acting on your inspiration, it is your duty as a citizen of planet Earth.

4. Commitment

If you want the Law of Attraction to work, you have to be ready to take action and act on whatever comes your way. Usually there isn’t a logical path to getting what you want, which is why you have to trust your inner guidance.

Burn all your bridges. Do or die. If you cannot say that to yourself, you probably aren’t following your passion and purpose. If you aren’t serious, no one will help you, because they know you’re just going to run off as soon as the next shiny thing comes around.

5. Courage

You will need to exercise courage if you’re following your path. Our body and mind likes the way things are, it’s comfortable, which is why it can be hard to grow and move past the illusionary wall of fear. When you have a purpose, it all fades away, and you overcome your fears.

I know that I am doing what I love and that my purpose is to help and connect. I run into fear all the time, but I know it’s part of the game. I am supposed to be doing this and I want to be doing this, which gives me determination and courage to move forward.

Fear will always be there. It’s a good thing. It puts up a wall that stops those that aren’t really serious and committed. If you know you’re on the right path, then you have no reason to stop.

The Law of Attraction Explained

This is Part 1 of the Law of Attraction for Conscious People Series.

In this post I’ll explain how I see the Law of Attraction working in my life. This is not the official version, it’s the version that I see in motion in my own life.

Your experience may differ, so pay close attention to what is going on and the inspiration you get.

When I first heard about the Law of Attraction I had already read a lot of books on spirituality, consciousness, awareness and compassion, so it wasn’t anything mind-blowing.

However, the logical side of my brain did moan and whine. It’s usually when your life sucks and when you most need it that you refuse to believe it.

I have witnessed the Law of Attraction in my own life. It’s amazing how well it works when you’re in alignment with what you really want.

How does it work?

You are constantly putting out intentions with your thoughts. Each and every thought is pulling something into your life. If you’re constantly worrying and stressing over the future, you’re thinking about all the bad stuff that might happen.

When you stop and observe yourself, you will find that you are unconsciously visualizing the worst possible scenarios, which is in turn making you feel bad and attracting more of those situations into your life. You’re essential telling the universe that you want more worry and stress.

To me, the Law of Attraction is very simple—where focus goes, energy flows.

How do you use it?

I will go into more depth in the last part of this series on how exactly you can apply the Law of Attraction into your life. You do not have to be 100% positive and try to push away your negative feelings. I see so many people lying to themselves.

Everyone experiences negativity in one way, shape or form. It’s not about pushing it away, it’s about embracing your fears and looking at how you can dissolve them. If you try to push your negative thoughts away, you will only create resistance, which will cause more of the same.

It’s like advanced goal setting, because you have to become clear of what you really want, set your goals, take action and maybe throw in some visualization. The more positive you are, the easier you will manifest what you want in your life.

It’s a catch 22. The happier you are, the happier you’ll be. Once you gain some momentum you’ll start to feel the true effortless nature of life. This has happened to me in short bursts and it’s always amazing to observe.

Why should you use it?

The Law of Attraction is constantly in motion, so why shouldn’t you learn to use it? It’s not a big undertaking. You do not have to schedule several hours for it every day. I keep it very simple in my life.

Instead of unconsciously creating your life, you can take responsibility and start consciously creating the life you truly want. It’s scary at first, because you have to get clear about what you really want. Most people have no clue what they want in life, yet they are disappointed because they aren’t getting what they want. Paradoxical.

You don’t believe in it

That’s completely fine. You’re going to miss out and probably come back to read this once you’ve realized that something is going on in your life and you don’t really understand what it is .

I thought about making this post more scientific and including “proof”, but I decided against it. If you resonate with what I have said, that’s cool and if you don’t that’s okay too.

Law of Attraction for Conscious People – The Series

Whether you like it or not, the Law of Attraction is constantly in motion in your life. If you’re not getting what you want, then you have to take a deep, hard look at what you’re really attracting into your life.

If you’ve seen The Secret, you probably get the notion that the Law of Attraction is nothing more than visualizing and hoping for more material wealth.

That’s understandable, but from my experience, there are many more variables in play. Imagining and getting clear on what you want does play an essential role, but as I said, there’s a lot more to it.

The Law of Attraction for Conscious People Series will dispel myths and show you how you can practically apply it to your life.

You might as well, it’s already working anyway, so why not make the best of it, right? Getting what you want requires peeling off the layers and discovering who you are.

You may think you want a nice car, a big house and a pile of money, but if you do not put out that vibration, you won’t attract it.

With all that said, here’s the line-up:

Each part can stand alone, but I still recommend you go through them from the first to the last to achieve maximum comprehension. I especially recommend the last part, because it is a wrap-up of everything and gives you 5 concrete steps to get what you want in life.

How to Manifest Synchronicity

Learning how to manifest synchronicity and coincidences, now that’s a topic I enjoy talking about. Just a few days ago I was chatting with Oleg from Lifebeat and realized I was staring synchronicity right in the face.

We we’re chatting on Skype, and I didn’t notice this before, but his name on there was exactly a domain name I had been thinking of in the past (in relation to the Wake Up Cloud).

It caused a river of chills to run down my spine. These chills usually confirm my thoughts. It’s the universe, your guides, your higher self or whatever you want to call it letting me know that I am on the right path.

Another interesting one I get from time to time is numbers. For example, I see 11:11 on the clock. A lot of people are getting this now and I do not feel like it is anything significant, but I would recommend that you listen to your own feelings and see what kind of information download you’re getting.

It can give rise to new thoughts and nudge you in the right direction. It can be another confirmation telling you that you’re doing well or it can just be you checking the clock all the time.

Coincidences are most powerful when you let them happen. With all that said, let’s dive a little bit deeper and look at how to manifest synchronicity and make it an everyday part of your life.

Purpose

When you’re doing what you’re supposed to do (yes I think we set goals before we come into this world), the universe will help you and show you that you’re on the right path.

If you’re heading in the wrong direction you’ll get subtle clues. First of all, you will feel bad. How bad depends on your situation. If you’ve been working a job you hate for 10 years you might feel pretty miserable.

Learn how to find your passion and start taking action, consistently. Begin by taking small steps. It can be as simple as spending one more minute every day doing something you enjoy.

In the last year, as I’ve started to discover my purpose and take action, the coincidences in my life have increased exponentially.

Awareness

If you’re unaware of what’s happening, you will never notice any coincidences. Awareness can be expanded in many different ways. Meditation is the tool that has worked the best for me. Experiment and find out, we’re all different.

If you are able to be in the present moment, then that is all it takes. Focus on your breathing, feel your body and be deliberate in whatever you do. There is no rush.

The first time I noticed an expansion in my awareness was when I was walking down the road and I suddenly noticed new trees and houses. I heard the birds and really noticed the people walking up and down the street.

Release

A big part of learning how to manifest synchronicity and coincidences is letting go of your desires. If you’re constantly trying to bring something into your life, you will often fail.

The vibration you are sending out is that of lack. If you’re in a mode of want, you’re telling the universe you do not have whatever it is you’re wanting, which means you’re visualizing or feeling lack, whether you’re aware of it or not.

It’s funny how just as I write this article, I glance down at the clock and see 22:22 (Europeans don’t use the AM-PM system). Another pat on the back from my friends on the other side.

There are several ways to release your desires. The most simple one is to write down all of your desires as frequently as possible. This will allow you to dump your thoughts onto paper.

If you want something to take the emotional charge off your negative thoughts, I recommend EFT.

Trust

If you want coincidences to happen, you have to trust your intuition and inner guidance. Sometimes you’ll feel the urge to go and rent a movie, which will give you the exact answer you need.

All of these things may not happen instantaneously, so allow time for them to manifest. Just by being aware of them and setting the intention that you want more synchronicity in your life will get the ball rolling.

But you have to be realistic. I’ve seen so many people tell me that it doesn’t work and when I ask them what they want, they almost always tell me things like “1 million so I can follow my passion and help people.”

This will only work if you resonate with getting money internally. Most people do not, because in reality, you do not need money to do what you love. It’s just another excuse.

How to Overcome Procrastination

Learning how to overcome procrastination is not easy. Often it is much easier to simply procrastinate.

I tend to procrastinate when I’m trying to do things I do not want to do or trying to do them in a way that is not providing value to others.

When you really sit down and think about it, overcoming procrastination is almost always about shifting your perspective and getting clear on what you really want.

I used to have no trouble procrastinating on school work because I really didn’t see what the point was.

I had no desire to do those things and would never repeat them. The only reason I did them was because “I had to”. It was the socially acceptable thing to do.

For me, procrastination pretty much always comes down to not doing what you really want to do. Have you ever procrastinated about something you are truly passionate about?

Passion

As I said above, if you’re doing stuff you don’t love, you have no one but yourself to blame if you run into procrastination. Listen to your feelings, discover your passion and you will be much more motivated.

As an example from my life, when I started playing poker professionally I had no trouble putting the hours in, but as the years went by and my interest declined, I started procrastinating, a lot. I didn’t want to play poker so I did my best to avoid it completely.

For a few years I forced myself to play and I really grew sick of the game. I haven’t played in almost a year and it feels great. The same thing happened when I jumped over to making a living through niche websites. In the beginning it was fun, but ultimately it was unsustainable if I wasn’t in line with what my passion was.

Value

Delivering value goes hand in hand with your passion. If you’re providing value you will be much more motivated. At least that is the case for me. When I went from a poker player to building health websites to starting this blog, my motivation grew each time.

Some people can get motivated and stay motivated by money alone, but ultimately it eats up their soul. Because there comes a point where you realize that more money doesn’t equal more happiness, which is when you will start to resist it.

Are you truly providing value for others or are you just doing it to make money? Procrastination is a sign. Listen to it. What is it trying to tell you? Do you wish you were doing something else? Could you provide more value and be less selfish?

Simplify

Sometimes you’re already doing what you love and still running into roadblocks and bouts of procrastination. When this happens it is usually because I am overwhelming myself and trying to juggle too many balls at once.

I am awesome at this, so throughout the years I’ve learned a few tricks to deal with it. The best thing is to focus on one core project, or at the most two. Keep it as simple as possible. And if you run into trouble, simplify the whole process.

Write down any steps you can take action on today. The smaller the pieces, the easier it will be to take action. Overwhelm happens to me when I try to think of all the things I want to do at once. It ultimately is just a figment of my imagination. Once you break it all down, you’ll see that procrastination tends to disappear.

Allow

When you start following your passion and putting your name and face out there, you may experience fear. I am constantly second-guessing myself as I write this blog. Is my writing good enough? Will people like me? What if no one reads what I have to say?

These are fears that we all have and they can create a massive amount of procrastination, because we’ve been taught to never fail and never be wrong. The best solution for me has been to shed awareness on what is really stopping me and just allowing the thoughts to be there.

It is easier said than done, but you do not have to identify with every thought you have. Following your passion can be scary, but you have to learn how to be imperfect.

Goals

To be quite honest, I do not keep meticulous goals. But I do keep a few large goals that keep me on track. You do not have to write down every detail. However, many find that it helps. To each his own, you have to find your own process and what works for you.

Goals provide clarity and clarity destroys procrastination. Avoid falling into the traps of spreading yourself thin. Realize the power of no. Saying no can be scary at first, because you don’t want to let people down.

I noticed this in my own life, but as I said no more and more I saw that those who were not really looking to be my friends dropped out of my life, and the true ones stayed. See it as a filter that at the same time keeps you focused and gives you more time time to spend on your projects.

Top 5 Reasons to Follow Your Passion and Excitement

Following your passion should be number one on your to-do list. It’s tough. It’s scary. I get that. I can relate. I am there every single day, feeling the fear, but I am also feeling the excitement, joy and love of doing what you really want to do.

There are many fears and beliefs that need to be cleared, but you can still take action. You can still take steps closer to your dreams. When you find something you TRULY love, the feeling of excitement will beat the feeling of fear, every single time.

Some say I’m lucky to be doing what I want, but I know otherwise. This does not happen on its own. If you want it, you can have it, but only you can decide when it is time. There are an infinite number of reasons to follow your passion and excitement. Here are just five of them:

1. Fulfillment

That feeling of wholeness, of fulfillment cannot be beat. In my life there always seemed to be something missing. Even when I was playing poker professionally a piece was lost and I couldn’t find it. Sure, I loved the game the first few years I played, but then it just became about making money and that’s when I quit.

2. Expertise

The world needs your expertise. You are unique. You are awesome at one or several things and you need to share your stuff so others can learn and grow. For the longest time I felt like I had nothing to offer, but I’ve learned two things: 1) I do have something to offer, and 2) I don’t care either way, I am determined to do what I love.

3. Growth

In order to grow, I have to constantly keep pushing myself. It is easy to stagnate, because it feels so comfortable and easy. I always have my eyes on the goal of growth. Do I want to look back at my comfortable life when I’m 200 years old (yes, I do intend to live that long ) and say “man, that was a waste”, or do I want to look back and say “that was awesome, let’s see what’s next”.

4. Synchronicity

Synchronicity is often called mere coincidence by those that do not believe in the force. The universe works in mysterious ways. You will see this when you start following your excitement. Somehow everything starts lining up. When you’re working at a soul-killing job the universe is trying to shake you awake. Start taking steps towards your passion and you will see what I mean.

5. Change

Change starts within each of us. The world is messed up and it needs you to follow your passion. Even if you’re only following your passion 1 minute a week, as long as it is 1 minute longer than the week before, you’re heading the right direction. Stop making excuses and start taking action.

I’ve always felt like something was missing, so I’ve been looking for that something under couches, rocks and in different countries.

But I now realize that I don’t have to look for something that I already have.

Easier said than done, right? Life is interesting that way.

It throws curveballs at you and makes you learn and grow in the weirdest ways. When you take life too seriously, you suffer.

The Wake Up Cloud is a place for those that want to change, grow and create a lifestyle business around their passion.

It is my passion to share my experiences and gifts with as many people as possible. I am all about practicality, common sense and living life to the fullest.

My Story

Hi, I’m Henri and I was born in northern Sweden on a dark September night in 1986. I went through my life as a normal kid playing sports, having fun, but also running into my fair share of brick walls. Fast-forward to my 18^th birthday when I got out of school and became a professional poker player is where my life took an interesting turn.

I started getting into the spiritual side of life, such as meditation, mindfulness and making a living in an unconventional way. At first it felt like I was only becoming more aware of the negativity all around the world, but I quickly learned that I was responsible for my emotions and reactions.

I discovered poker by learning that a friend of a friend had made some money playing the game. I was working a summer job washing boxes at the time, which was horrible, so I jumped on the opportunity and decided to become a professional online poker player.

When I heard about poker, I knew that if someone else could do it, I could do it. I started studying and spent a whole summer learning the game. I eventually got good at it and made a living playing online poker for almost 5 years.

In early 2009 I discovered that I wasn’t as happy as I thought I was. Sure, I was making money, but that wasn’t enough. I’d rather make less, be passionate and help people than live in luxury and be empty inside. That’s when I started learning about making a living with websites and blogs.

I started out by creating niche websites around health, which is one of the subjects I’m interested in. I then moved on to promoting natural health products that I myself use on a daily basis and have recommended to my friends and family (note: it’s important to only promote stuff you really believe in).

These include supplements, skin care products and so on. Yes, I could be making more money, but I like promoting something that I believe in. Long story short, in late 2009 I again discovered that I was pretty happy, but I wasn’t fulfilled and truly passionate.

I was making a living with my websites, by helping people improve their health, but something was still missing. Damn that missing feeling, always comes back to haunt you, doesn’t it?

I decided to finally tackle my purpose.

What was it?

What did I want to do for the rest of my life, or at least for the next few years?

My Purpose

I nailed it when I realized that I wanted to help people grow through building an online business that gives them freedom. I wanted to light the spark in others. I want to show you how you can get more freedom in your life by building a lifestyle business around your passion.

When I figured all of this out, and it didn’t happen all at once. I knew that I had to do something about it.

I had actually been thinking about starting a blog/website where I could help, but it never came to fruition. However, now was the time, I could feel it in the force.

I have already helped many get unstuck, achieve their goals, boost their online income, and build a lifestyle business.

So naturally I wanted to start doing this on a larger scale, which is my goal with the Wake Up Cloud. If I only had to choose one thing for the rest of my life, this would be it. I love doing this.

Do What You Love

How do you want to live? If you had a time machine and could travel to the future, right before you were about to leave this plane of existence, do you really think you’d be happy that you spent you life working at a soul-crushing job to make some money, or do you think you would have wanted to do what you love?

So many people live to survive, but is that all there is to it?

What if you could live your life to the fullest, follow your excitement and do what you love? A good question, isn’t it?

What is stopping you from doing that?

Your fears?

I’m sure you have a lot of thoughts pop-up just by asking yourself that question. We’ve been told that we can’t make a living doing what we love. We have to work hard, buy a house, get kids and then die.

That’s ridiculous. Think about how many labels have been imposed on you. When you become aware of them, they slowly fade away.
