yes, it’s a quote from a movie and only speculation that the real William Wallace said it, but… one of my favourites is: William Wallace: Yes. Fight and you may die. Run and you will live, at least awhile. And dying in your bed many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that, for one change to come back here as young men, and tell our enemies that they make take our lives, but they will never take our freedom?

basically – longevity means shit if you’ve compromised your beliefs, convictions, morals – your life. I always paraphrase this one when people try to nix plans because they feel watching a television show is more important…

I haven’t stopped growing (blossoming, being, becoming) since

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” – Confucius

That’s been especially true for me in my life. We are not always full of energy and motivation, but if we know where we are going, all that matters that we move even just a little bit towards the goal every day. That way, we will eventually reach the goal, and the journey will be full of joy.

Very annoying. Very frustrating trying to push myself into new patterns of behavior that don’t get me caught in those whirlpools again. Often near-nonsensical, which doesn’t hinder it in the slightest. Very hard to break — and yet even that thought prompts thoughts of “no, it’s actually EASY to break, that is, if you’re not a total wimp” even though I KNOW it’s not true, that lots of people struggle with stuff like this. (And THAT brings out the “what, you thought you were OMG SPESHULZ? puh-leeze” thoughts — again, no real logic or internal consistency.)

I think I need to go to bed.

I could find plenty of negative stuff to focus on in my life, but I choose not to. Take action and follow your heart. There could even be a reason behind what has happened. You never know.

(More circular logic: can’t stop blaming yourself by shifting the blame to the depression for making you blame yourself, because the depression is just a description of how your own mind is sabotaging itself, so it’s really still your fault. Next up, fun with Escher!)
